Učenci od 5. do 9. razreda so si v četrtek, 14. februarja 2019, v sklopu kulturnega dne ogledali predstavo Moj lajf.

Hvala

THE VISIT FROM THE USA

2019

Last week on Tuesday, there were two people from the USA that were visiting our school. Their names were Brooke and Hannah.

The week before their visit, we went to the computer classroom, where we made presentations to explain a little more about Slovenia to them, and then they explained a little more about the USA.

Their visit was quite special for me, because it was the first time that I could ˝use˝ English in an actual real-life ˝conversation˝ and it was also the first time I heard a true American accent live.

And I also wasn't just sitting there and listening, I was actually doing stuff on the computer (showing maps, pictures, googling stuff for them) and in the end, Brooke actually thanked me for doing that on the computer.

The week before, our teacher also said to us that we should prepare some questions about the US for them. I didn't actually say any questions to the teacher, but I was thinking that I could ask if they were confused when they saw the speed limit was 100 (km/h) (because the USA uses miles, and 100 miles is actually 160 km), were they thinking ˝OMG, you can drive 100 miles per hour?!˝

And I did actually ask that and they said that at first, they were thinking that, but then they remembered that Slovenia uses kilometres.

But the biggest suprise was when I had to play Golica on the computer because Urban asked if they knew any Slovenian music. And when I played it, they said that they actually know this song because they heard it the day before but they didn't know the name of the song. And that was a suprise for me and Sebastijan because he told me after they left that he was also very suprised that they knew the song (maybe not the name, but they knew the actual song).

In the end, I actually do know a lot about the USA, but I also now know a little bit more (for example, the Womens march that happened after Trump became the new president) and I was very happy that they came because I could learn more about the USA from someone that actually lives there.

Obisk iz New Yorka

New York, New York…

V torek, 5. 2. 2019, sta našo šolo obiskali Brooke in Hannah, ki sta bili službeno v Sloveniji. Prileteli sta z 8-urnim letom iz New Yorka.

»native speakerke«.

V OPB sodelujemo v projektu Naša mala knjižnica: beremo knjige in rešujemo zanimive naloge v Ustvarjalniku.

To smo mi – OPB tri!

In Slovenia, there is a national holiday called Prešeren day. It happens every year on 8th February.

8th February is the day that Slovenia's biggest poet France Prešeren died. Our school is going to have a event for the holiday.

Now, these are some more known Slovenia's writers and poets.

SIMON JENKO

Simon Jenko was a Slovenian writer. He was born on 27th October 1835 in Podreča and died on 18th October 1869 in Kranj. His most known works are Po slovesu and Gori.
